I have been very grateful to have been hired by the Food Network to photograph for The Beat Bobby Flay show. Chef Noori of The Mantu in Richmond was my second chef to profile for the show. I enjoy these shoots because they use many of my photographic skills, portrait, architecture, food, and editorial. Chef Noori cooked several dishes for me to feature, and they were all delicious. He introduced me to the delightful flavors of Afghani cuisine.
In his kitchen, he has a clay oven for kabobs. He chops a ton of fresh vegetables to use, and between the heat and spice, the smell was intoxicating. The dishes were beautiful. To see how Chef Noori did on the show, tune in to The Food Network. His episode aired on May 13th, so I believe you can now see it on demand. Located in Richmond, Virginia, The Mantu Restaurant is about 80 miles from Norfolk and well worth drive.
