Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but they were a challenge to this photographer. April's birthstone is diamond, and the color is colorless glass or crystal. My primary resource and inspiration the Chrysler Museum right here in Norfolk. Three of my favorite pieces are Holiday by Christopher Ries, Luke Jerram's Chandelier, and Karen LaMonte's Reclining Drapery Impression. I did have some images of some windows in New York that featured jewelry and the incredible chandelier at the Michelangelo hotel when I photographed the lobby. Two are bits of crystal that caught my eye. Finally clear and delicious is the bottle Reverend Spirits Gin, also distilled right here in Norfolk. Let me know what you think of my selections and next month is emerald, so if you see some green that needs to be featured, send me a message.
This is part of a year-long project to refresh my creativity and train my eye a little more on seeing colors. Throughout 2021 I will post images at the end of each month that will have some relationship to that month's birthstone/color. Some of the photographs will be of my regular work, but hopefully, most will come from new content I see throughout the month. Training myself to slow down and see the area around me differently.
