The Inn at Little Washington is a gastronomic treasure here in Virginia. It is about a 3 1/2 hour drive from Norfolk. Since its opening in 1978 by Chef and Proprietor Patrick O'Connell, they have received many awards including, the coveted 3 Stars in the Michelin Guide.
For a food and architecture photographer, the Inn is a playground. I stayed in the Jean-Louis Palladin room located in the main building. Open and airy with beautiful light. The whole Inn is a beautiful palate of textures and colors.
The highlight of any stay is the dinner. A tasting menu of six courses, including an Amuse-Bouche to get started and a palate cleanser before the cheese course, with selections from their Cheese-Whiz Cameron and brought to you on the back of Farrah the cow cart.
My favorite part of the weekend was the tour of the kitchen. Chef remodeled the kitchen this year with Russell Stillwell of Next Step Design. The kitchen is often referred to as "the most beautiful kitchen in the world." The new red stove custom made in France by Molteni pays homage to the original wood stove when the Inn first opened.
Enjoy the images, and please share your thoughts and if you have been to the Inn.
