I was intimidated by this month's color blog. June has two birthstones, pearl and alexandrite. At first, I thought of going with alexandrite, which has color-changing properties, but I kept going back to my color theory classes; there was always an argument over black and white, which was the absence of color or all colors combined. I decided the better challenge would be to use pearl or solid white. In photography, you learn that white needs have detail and can be challenging.
The first image is of my coffee using white as a frame. Next is a drone image of a commercial building in Virginia Beach. The following two are of flowers, the first a wildflower, the second one of my hydrangea blossoms. Then you have two kitchen images from an interior design job. Then followed by a quaint little shed captured on the western side of Virginia while photographing an Airbnb. A white front porch seat at the same property. Lastly, the coconut sorbet at the Inn at Little Washington.
Let me know what you think of this month's interpretation of pearl.
This is part of a year-long project to refresh my creativity and train my eye a little more on seeing colors. Throughout 2021 I will post images at the end of each month that will have some relationship to that month's birthstone/color. Some of the photographs will be of my regular work, architecture, drone, or food, but hopefully, some will come from new content I see throughout the month. Training myself to slow down and see the area around me differently.
