The color blog this month is the first time that I am not going with the traditional stone, which for October is Opal, a beautiful stone. I decided to go with the modern color of Tourmaline/Pink. October is breast cancer awareness month, and a pink ribbon has been a symbol for a long time. I have had people who are dear to me fight the disease, so I decided to go with pink.
The first image is my favorite rosé from Elizabeth Spencer winery with an incredible pink sunset at East Beach in Norfolk, VA. Next is a ruby red grapefruit; as a kid, I wouldn't say I liked grapefruit. As an adult, I love the tartness of pink grapefruit. Next was a towel in a model home; they did the bathroom in pink accents with the breast cancer awareness ribbon. I love bubbles (champagne bubbles); this is a real treat on special occasions a bottle of Laurent-Perrier. The fig tree next door is late each year on its fruit, and it is pink, sweet, and delicious. A child's room from Interior Visions uses pink in the most subtle of ways. Finally, a pomegranate martini. I can't deny it was a little alcohol-forward month, but all the drinks were pink and delicious.
This is part of a year-long project to refresh my creativity and train my eye a little more on seeing colors. Throughout 2021 I will post images at the end of each month that will relate to that month's birthstone/color. Some of the photographs will be of my regular work, architecture, drone, or food, but hopefully, some will come from new content I see throughout the month. Training myself to slow down and see the area around me differently.
Comment below and let me know what you think of my interpretations this month.
