This month's southeastern Virginia city blog is all about Suffolk, Virginia. Suffolk is almost two cities in one, and as the largest city by boundary in the commonwealth and the 14th largest in the United States, it can easily fit them both. The home of Planters Peanuts, the historic downtown welcomes you with some flags and a statue of Mr. Peanut. The downtown area is a step back in time with great architecture and buildings that were warehouses and offices repurposed for breweries, shops, and restaurants. A trip to Harper's Table is worth the drive; delicious southern cuisine and the interior features pine from an old peanut factory, and they found a mural in prestige condition under the drywall.
The second part of Suffolk is in the northern part of the city. I have spent the last few years working here photographing the waterways with the drone. Although neither on the bay nor ocean, the water views are spectacular with the surrounding rivers, creeks, and marshes. You can see from the drone that it is an excellent balance of commercial real estate with residential.
Please scroll through and let me know what you think of my take of Suffolk, and even better, visit this great place in southeast Virginia.
In 2022 I will be featuring a different city or town in southeastern Virginia and using all my photographic skills, drone, food photography,
and architectural photography. I hope it will open my eyes to new places close to my home and inspire some of you to visit.

Laura - Love these photos! I discovered Decoy’s the other day—amazing scallops with asparagus and a dill cream sauce, in a great atmosphere.
